Superintendent Message

Dear Stroudsburg School Community:

I would like to welcome all students, faculty and staff back to the 2018-2019 school year!  We have had a busy summer putting together plans to assist all of our students to be college and career ready.  We have several goals planned for this school year highlighted by:

  • Curriculum rewrites and revisions.
  • Continue to provide professional development in the area of reading, working toward the goal of all students reading on level by Grade 3.
  • Utilize technology so students have a more robust understanding of what digital citizenship is and how it can positively impact their lives.
  • Assure a school environment for students, employees, and parents that is welcoming, safe, inviting, and accessible.
  • Recruit high quality employees who are creative and technological innovators, with a passion for helping students.
  • Provide high level safety and security for all students, staff, and visitors and partner with the community to work together in this very important aspect of school operations.
  • Maintain and maximize the effectiveness of our facilities.
  • Operate the district in a fiscally prudent manner.

These goals represent a pathway to achieve the vision of all students being prepared for college, workforce and military and to help in closing the skills gap that business and industry, both locally and nationally, are clamoring for.

The bottom line is to provide Mountaineer Alumni with the opportunity to earn a family sustaining wage as qualified and ready workers who are willing and able to fill positions based on their 21st Century Education. The hardworking and dedicated administrators, teachers, and staff of the Stroudsburg Area School District are proud to deliver this education.

We cannot guarantee success in life, but we can guarantee that we will hold your child to high moral and ethical standards and promote a work ethic to help all students overcome adversity and to be successful in the path they choose.

Remember that to each of our students -- Your Future Matters!  Take advantage of the opportunities today to set yourself up for success tomorrow.

I wish you all many successes this school year.

Sincerely,

Cosmas C. Curry, Ed.D.
